Some of our Apps
The ITD has a long experience in designing and developing interfaces and applications for mobile devices (iOS, Android, Windows Mobile). Since 2001, we have been working on the application of mobil technologies for educational and entrainment. The ITD has been carrying out and coordinating several National and International projects on Mobile Learning thematic: MoULe, MOTILL, VODIE, Mobile lifelong learning for adults excluded from the educational cycle, and the O'munaciedd. Each project has arisen specific issues concerning the use of mobile technologies for learning. Moreover, we have designed and developed some mobile applications in educational context as well as mobile learning platforms:
-
MoULe(Mobile and Ubiquitous Learning)is a software environment for mobile & ubiquitous learning, accessible on the Internet and wireless network using mobile devices, with tracking systems integrated with specialized search engines for finding resources that can be used for educational purposes. MoULe provides a learning environment that integrates traditional activities, which can be activated through e-learning platforms, with learning activities based on the use of mobile devices (iOS, Android and Windows Mobile). In MoULe, mobile devices are used in a collaborative environment during activities both inside and outside the classroom. All the resources created, acquired and used by students are associated with a geographical location. The MoULe system has been using in several Italian education settings: secondary school, university and vocational learning. The MoULe has gained two awards: in 2009 the Mobile Learning Excellence Gold Award in the Education category and its designers were recognized "as top practitioners on the leading edge of mobile learning technology and innovation" from University of Central Florida - Institute for Simulation and Training; in 2010 the Seventh edition of the Aldo Fabris award - Category University. Italian award to spread good practice on new models of learning and human capital from Aldo Fabris Institute. The system has been using for several years in high schools and universities courses. http://moule.pa.itd.cnr.it

VODIE (Vocation Education of Visually Impaired People via Distance Education) The VODIE is a two-year project funded by the European Commission within the Lifelong Learning Programme, Multilateral Project, Leonardo Da Vinci. The main aim of the project, coordinate by Usak University - vocational school of distance education (Turkey), is to increase the opportunities and quality of vocational training for visually impaired people, in particular women; Transfer of a LMS that is suitable for the use of visually impaired people. Moreover, the project is aimed at increasing the availability of the content in learning management system for visually impaired. The developed mobile interface will help users to get the course or educational materials anywhere, anytime. For this to happen the ITD has Designed and developed interfaces for mobile devices appropriate for visually impaired individuals allowing users to access the Moodle LMS by an iOS mobile device to get courses or educational materials anywhere, anytime. The system interfaces have been designed according to the principles of Universal Design, which require that all design activities should take account of the different. In this way, the mobile application works perfectly in accordance with the adaptive technologies. In order to access the learning platform on the go, a mobile application was designed for iOS (iPhone, iPod Touch e iPad) that is available for free in the Apple App Store.

O'Munaciedd is an educational game which uses and exploits the historical, artistic and scenic heritage of the Basilicata region. The game is intended for children between the ages of 9 and 13. Children take part in a treasure hunt to learn about the culture of Basilicata and develop a didactic method by playing the game and observing the artistic heritage and the landscape of Matera. The application, designed for iOS (iPhone, iPod Touch e iPad), is available for free in the Apple App Store. Students use handsets as a travel guide and companion. By visualizing the treasure map they can find their way through the streets of the city and identify the clues more quickly. When they are approaching a historical site where a clue is hidden, O'Munaciedd's riddles will automatically appear on the handset screen in the form of quiz questions, mathematical, linguistic and ludic puzzles. O'Munaciedd was developed at the Institute for Educational Technologies - National Research Council of Italy. The application is an integral part of the Matera Città Narrata project, promoted by the Agenzia di Promozione Territoriale (Agency for the Promotion of the Region) and the Dipartimento Attivita' Produttive della Regione Basilicata (Department for Industrial Activity of the Region of Basilicata).
